I’m sorry?! It wasn’t a crash? “According to the statistics and the amount of damage...” BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!

The fact is the passengers on Continental Flight 1404 were not crash dummies just flailing within the plane that was illuminated only by the dreaded isle lights and the fire coming from the right engine.
The fact is the damn plane cracked in half.
The fact is some of us lost most of our possessions on that plane.
The fact is that most of us are dealing with PTSD. No, not the acronym that is just tossed around as a psychiatrical term.

We are in pain. Physical pain, the kind of pain that prevents you from walking.

Mental distress, the kind that keeps you up all night crying or that causes you to loose your job.

Daniela: A matter of time. Time. Funny thing about time. I don’t have the time to spend at least three hours a day dealing with four different people over the phone attempting to get my medical bills paid and items returned. Oh, and what about Christmas time? It’s been three years now since I’ve spent Christmas and New Years with my family. Can you smell that? Mi papa, mama, ñaño, nonno, nonna, opi, Margie, tio, tia, primo, prima. And another thing about time. I took the time from my holiday, from my classes, from my job, from my life to deal with all necessary issues away from the legal system. The result was a phone call I had to take in a back hallway at school which concluded with my sobs.
AJ: They should not sue: they are okay.
Daniela: I think you should go work instead of raining your unenlightened words on us. Here’s a little enlightenment for you; the dictionary definition for okay is “satisfactory but not exceptionally or especially good.” I am not okay. If I was ok I would not have to be taking antidepressants every day or needing sleeping aids to get through the night.
snuffalupagus: You should THANK that pilot for saving your worthless lives. You obviously have no idea how quickly that pilot had to respond to an emergency situation to prevent the plane from being completely destroyed. You are all lucky to be alive and owe that fact to the OUTSTANDING job done by the pilot. Stop looking for a quick payday at the expense of everyone else and accept the fact that life has risks. People like you make me sick.
Daniela: Oh snuffalupagus, THANK you for deciding my life is worthless and for reaching into my head and knowing exactly what I’ve been through. As you obviously know the first thing I thought when I was waiting to be taken to the hospital and saw a pilot next to me was: “I’m gonna sue this guy for all he’s got! What a bastard for keeping me alive!” Quick payday to pay for my monthly prescriptions due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the weekly physical therapy, the (approximate) three hundred dollars an hour psychiatrist appointment every other week. I’m sorry for being so selfish, I should have considered that emancipated students poop money.
